The final ceremony will take place ten days after his death, according to the protocol designed by the British Royal House. Buckingham Palace has not yet confirmed the exact date, but some local media say it could be scheduled for Monday, September 19.

Although the date on which Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral will take place has not yet been confirmed, several world leaders have expressed their willingness to attend the ceremony to pay their respects to the monarch who has served the longest reigns in the history of the United Kingdom.

What we do know is that it will take place in Westminster Abbey, the church where Queen Elizabeth II was crowned in 1953.

Joe Biden will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II

The president of the United States, Joe Biden declared this Friday that he will attend the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II in Great Britain. “I don’t know the details yet, but I’ll go,” said Biden, who spoke to the media before heading to Air Force One at Columbus International Airport in Ohio, where he gave a speech.

Biden said he had not yet spoken to the queen’s son, King Charles III.

“I know him… I didn’t call him,” he said.

Biden first met the Queen in 1982 when he was a US senator traveling to the UK with a congressional delegation. He last saw her in 2021, several months after he became president, while she was attending a summit of world leaders in south-west England.

Emperor Naruhito

In the event that Naruhito finally attends the funeral of Elizabeth II, this trip would be the first visit abroad since his accession to the throne in May 2019.

Japan’s Emperor Naruto announced on Saturday that he planned to attend the funeral of England’s Queen Elizabeth II, according to Japanese media.

The government and imperial household would arrange for the Emperor and Empress to attend the state funeral in London. The Empress, who is under medical treatment, would accompany Naruto as long as she is well.

Should Naruto finally attend Elizabeth II’s funeral, this trip would be his first visit abroad since his accession to the throne in May 2019.

The Japanese Imperial Family and the British Royal Family have always had a close relationship. Emperor Emeritus, Akihito attended the coronation of Elizabeth II in 1953.
