Online video – 4 easy steps to get started

Spread the love

Video is one of the hottest things on the web right now. How hot is it? In March 2009, web information provider commodore released its data on online video usage. Their report found that internet users watched 14.5 billion online videos during the month – an 11% increase from February. March reports also found that 78% of Internet viewers watch videos online, with an average of 97 videos per hour.

With these staggering numbers, more and more people are exploring how to add video colorization software free to their marketing mix. Why use video for marketing? It’s also great for driving traffic and can be done pretty much for free. Here are a few tips to get you started:

Buy a Flip camcorder.

A Flip is a pocket-sized digital video recorder that is both easy to use and very affordable. You target the video, record it, and then upload it directly to your computer via USB. If you just want to get started with video, it’s a great way to do it. They even have HD versions of their cameras and the ability to customize them with colors and designs.

Check out the free screenshot software.

Not ready to go in front of the camera yet? With these free services, you can still create online videos using your voice and computer screen. Two that I recommend and use are Screen toaster and Jing. These are great for creating short tutorials for e-learning purposes that you can later upload to your blog or video sharing sites. All you need is a microphone – I use the headset I have for Skype.

Create an account on YouTube, Fiddler or Video.

These are video services where you can upload, develop and share your videos for free. YouTube is fun to create your own channel on a page of your own design. Get the code they provided to embed the video on your own web page. Video has a really attractive and fluid player and Fiddler offers in-video tagging and comments. There are many other video colorize online  hosting options, including Facebook. Browse through the different options and find out which one suit you best.

Attract viewers to your site.

Don’t forget to mention your website or add text indicating the URL at the beginning and end of the video. You will also want to add your website to your profile and anywhere you can write a description of a particular video. Video can be a very broad subject, but it can also be daunting to many people. I’ve only recently started experimenting beyond the base. Start with these steps and don’t feel like you need to make long or fancy cuts. In fact, short, content-rich videos are the way to go. To get started, aim for 90 seconds to two minutes where you give a few tips or teach people how to do something. Minimize background noise and provide adequate lighting in the room and you’re set!
