The villages of the Himalayas are not only known for their astonishing views of the mountains and the sounds of the rivers. The simple life of the villages is also very unspoiled. Spend one or two days in these villages, just catch up in the atmosphere and learn more about these villagers’ lifestyles. A night break in Tosh will not cost you over 700 bucks, and in Kasol there are plenty of options for budget and luxury accommodation. Campsites in Parvati Valley, Kasol, and Malana are also accessible.
Tosh
If you want to holiday in a green pasture, enjoy the delicacies made at home, talk with some shawl makers who sit in a group; ease the day and fall into the quiet of the place when the sun comes down, then Tosh is the place for you. While you might not call it a village of its sort, its beauty is still unchanged. Tosh has recently found a position in a checklist for any backpacker because of its success, resulting in the opening of multiple homes and bed and breakfasts in the region. The village is 10 km long and easily accessible on foot. Your trail will lead you through the key sources of revenues here, apple orchards and hashish plantations. How to reach:
It’s a bumpy trip from Manali to Barshaini and during the weekends the traffic is annoying. Tosh is only a 45-50-minute walk away from here (for beginners). Barshaini also has options for shared cabs. Soon, as the construction work goes on, the 3 km stretch from Barshaini up to Tosh will also become motorized.
Malana
Malana is like a hippy mecca and backpackers searching for loneliness. In recent years, for all the right reasons it has been on the list of explorers and nature lovers. It is a small village located on a distant plateau of 8701 ft. In the State of Himachal Pradesh, above sea level. It has a surreal view of the Parvati Valley’s snow-capped mountains and the rugged Malana River. Malana is the source, no doubt, of some of the finest and most expensive hashish varieties. This village has its own customs and rituals and a firm belief in the Jamblu Devta resident deity.
How to reach:
After a 10-hour hike through the Rashol Pass, you can come to Malana from the Valley of Parvati (Manikaren). Furthermore, you can enter Malana through the Chanderkhani Pass from Nagar which would take about two days. Jari is Malana’s closest village.
Kasol
Kasol has located just 42 km from Bhuntar Airport and is located at the bank of River Parvati. It is on the way to Manichaean, a famous Hindu and Sikh pilgrimage site. Kasol is a destination for hippy backpackers, and is steeped in classy river cafés, cheap inns, bars, and bakeries and is thickly populated by Israelis who stay for months and can be found in many of the region’s hotels. Kasol is the base for many walks and walking routes, such as Kheerganga, Pin Parvati Pass, and Sar Pass. Soak yourself in the atmosphere of the place by spending 2-3 days here; visit nearby villages and enjoy the local cuisine. This is a beautiful place where the artist can carry you out; just relax and enjoy nature.
Parvati Valley
You can see River Parvati streaming violently alongside you, chasing you each way and fusing into the Beas river in Bhuntar as you pass to the slightest south of Kullu. The beautiful Parvati Valley extends to Manikaran and the northwest in the beautiful hot springs. This village is famous for its marijuana (charas), it’s wildly grown in the fields and it’s a hugely scared place to Israelis and cafés. Many guesthouses and campsites in the area and various food options are available. It is also a jump-off point for numerous excursions, including the Pin-Parvati Pass and the Chandrakhani Pass. Travel tip: If you stay in Manali and plan a day trip to Parvati Valley, start at 3:00 a.m. During weekends and on holidays, the traffic is worse.
Kheerganga
A 14-kilometer trek from Tosh takes you to Kheerganga, one of the Himalayan most well-kept secrets. You will cross several waterfalls and bridges on your journey, whose picturesque views will be forever grafted in your memory. The 14 km trek from Tosh is Kheerganga. It takes about four to five hours from Bhuntar Airport to Tosh if no traffic exists.
